About NCASLOur members are directors, coordinators, specialists, or other staff working in or with a State Education Agency (SEA), who provide leadership in their respective states for the advancement of academic service-learning. They promote, develop, and expand school-based service-learning to K-12 schools and school districts; they provide direct assistance in the form of technical support and professional development opportunities; and they advocate for the intentional use of service-learning as an engaging instructional strategy.

- NCASL nurtures high quality service-learning experiences that reflect the K-12 Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice.
- NCASL is focused on the intentional use of service-learning as a sound pedagogy to teach classroom curriculum using experiential learning.
- NCASL is about work within the educational system. As State Education Agency representatives, our focus is on academic outcomes for students while also addressing workforce development, academic and civic engagement, and personal and social development.
- NCASL promotes the importance of youth voice and student ownership in the lifelong learning process.
- NCASL believes that all youth have the capacity to contribute meaningfully to their community regardless of age, ability, or background.
